Short Notice Appointments
Time is of the essence when it comes to identifying dysphagia with an instrumental assessment. We strive to complete assessments within 24-48 hours of receiving a doctor’s order. In some cases, we may be able to provide same day exams when an appointment is requested.
In Office Swallowing Assessments
Reduce the lag time for dysphagia intervention by having us perform FEES exams in office. With our portable FEES system, we can provide diagnostic imaging and immediately deliver results and recommendations to the referring physician.
Swallowing Clinics
For physicians or facilities serving a volume of patients with dysphagia, we can work to schedule multiple patient appointments in a single day.
Weekend and Evening Exams
Dysphagia symptoms often present in patients outside of traditional working hours. By extending our availability until 7pm and offering consultations on weekend days, we can expedite appropriate care plans and avoid the medical, social, and emotional consequences of a prolonged NPO status.
Post Surgical Swallowing Exams
Head and neck surgeries can result in new onset dysphagia and voice symptoms in patients of all ages. Early identification of dysphagia via clinical exams or screenings is critical in achieving the best post-surgical outcomes. Instrumental assessment in the post-operative period solidifies appropriate diet recommendations and guides management of nutrition and hydration needs.
Inpatient Swallowing Assessments
We can perform FEES exams at a patient’s bedside, using any foods prepared in the facility. We can also provide a limited selection of foods for assessment if needed. FEES is an excellent tool for establishing baseline dysphagia deficits and effectiveness of compensatory strategies. Because the exam is well tolerated, FEES can be used to monitor a patient’s therapy progress as frequently as a patient and treating SLP deem necessary.
Collaboration with Treating SLPs and Providers
Our team is ready to help all of our patients, families, clinicians, and providers make informed decisions about dysphagia treatment plans. Choosing a mobile FEES assessment allows for direct collaboration between the examining SLP and members of the patient support system. For facility bound patients, completing the evaluation in a familiar environment produces recommendations that are highly individualized to a patient’s needs.
